As beauty consumers, we are inundated with new products and techniques to try every few weeks creating a web of confusion as to which of these are truly a necessity for our skin. When it comes to skincare, however, I would advise that you stay diligent with your routine. All this means is that while the types of products you use may change, the fundamental steps of cleansing, toning, treating and moisturizing ought to remain the same. For me, cleansing and toning is as important as finding a hardworking serum. Removing the day’s dirt and make-up before bedtime is a must and there are several ways to do this. Most “lazy girl’s guides to skincare” will recommend cleansing towelettes the likes of Neutrogena or Garnier, and while they are ideal for removing the surface layer of make-up, these wipes do little to tackle the bacteria and impurities that have managed to grow legs and crawl deep into your pores (nice visual, eh?). So what’s my recommendation? Actually washing your face but I would like to take that a step further and introduce the cleansing brush, specifically the Clarisonic Mia 2.
Scrubs, astringents and cleansers on their own do not have the ability to deeply cleanse and exfoliate the skin. A tool such as a facial cleansing brush use various types of bristles to actually get into your pores and sweep away dirt and make-up. The bristles on the brush also help to rid the skin of dead cells which also contribute to clogged pores. The removal of these dead skin cells also means that cell turnover happens at a faster rate (normally a one-month cycle) ultimately resulting in smoother more polished looking skin. In the long run, unclogged pores means you’re also less prone to breakouts and medication, target treatments and serums have a better chance at penetrating the skin.
Why the Clarisonic Mia 2?
Simply because it is one of the best on the market. It cleanses six times better than manual cleansing (i.e. using your hands) and in just 6o seconds, the patented sonic technology removes impurities from pores so that creams, serums and moisturisers are more effective. Using the Clarisonic Mia 2 daily will also have you noticing a reduction in dry patches, oily areas and blemishes.
I personally noticed an improvement in the appearance of my skin within the first week of use. It looked super sonic clean, as in I didn’t know that I had peach fuzz. Because I enjoy seeing results fast, I jumped straight into using this daily. However, if you do have easily sensitized skin, I would recommend easing the Clarisonic Mia 2 into your routine by using it once or twice a week first and then gradually working your way up to daily usage.
