Scents are very dear to me as they have the ability to alter my mood. Whether I am feeling cheerful, fun, flirty or elegant, fragrance can evoke these attitudes. A couple of weeks ago, myself along side some popular faces on the social media/blogger scene had the pleasure of lunching with the Michael Kors team at the picturesque Steenberg Wine Estate. On the agenda was exquisite cuisine paired with the complex notes and flavours that form the new fragrance for women – Wonderlust.
We arrived to a beautiful set up at Catharina’s, a charming restaurant within the estate that creates contemporary comfort food. Delightful welcome bubbly was served before we sat down for the official presentation which begun with visuals showing the cool, calm and collected Lily Aldridge as the face of Wonderlust alongside Dutch model Wouter Peelen.
Wonderlust, the new fragrance for women, is conceptualized around the idea of escape, a very fitting notion as the scent is so aptly named. The dianthus flower forms part of the top note composition to give Wonderlust the feel of an almond milk that has been blended with a spicy, creamy floral. Bergamot and pink pepper complete the top note while heliotrope sits at the heart. Benzoin and sandalwood form the base providing warmth and the spicy sweetness of cinnamon to Wonderlust.
Shortly after, a three-course meal was served and I opted for mouthwatering aubergine caviche to start, pink pepper corn crusted beef fillet as my main and finally, chocolate and bergamot cremeaux for dessert.
