The saying goes, “you can never have too much of a good thing.” Such is true when it comes to foundation, particularly, Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra. You’re probably already familiar with this classic and much-loved base, so it’s no surprise that the cult beauty brand decided to develop the same foundation in a charming cushion compact. I’ve been putting it to the test over the last few weeks and these are my thoughts…
When it comes to using products that require a push or pump action, I’ve become accustomed to having to exert a certain amount of pressure and persistence in attempting to get the initial bit of fluid out. It was to my surprise that after five or so presses, I had released too much product. This is good news. Little effort is required to get this foundation to work making for the perfect compact to keep in your to-go beauty bag. Complete with a built-in mirror and cushion pad, this just adds to the convenience of having this as a travel companion, not forgetting that you’re getting one of the best formulated foundations on the market anytime you need it. Just like the original Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra, its cushion compact cousin is long-wearing, full coverage, oil-free and has a built-in SPF.
The finish is impeccable, leaving my skin in a veil of silk. This is my go-to foundation on days when I crave something incredibly lightweight but will cover up blemishes. The formula allows for a juicy, youthful glow allowing skin to look like skin. Below are some before and after shots. Don’t mind the bumps on my cheek and chin – it’s that time of the month.
As you can see, dark spots and chicken pox scars have been successfully covered up. To apply, I used the applicator pad that comes with the foundation, however, I found it somewhat of a hassle to use when trying to get into difficult corners and navigate around my brows. My long nails could’ve contributed to this but alas, I’m not about to get rid of them. If you’re more of a brush gal, try the stippling kind or a BeautyBlender for an even more natural finish. Also, the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Cushion works with a refill method so when it finishes, save R149 by only purchasing the refill and not the entire compact.
It is available in 7 different shades (I am the shade 06).
It retails at an RRSP of R499 while the refills retails at an RRSP of R350.
Available at Edgars, Red Square, Stuttafords, Woolworths, Truworths and Foschini as well as ONLINE through www.redsquare.co.za, www.woolworths.co.za and foschiniforbeauty.co.za
