I am absolutely smitten with scents and I remember CHANEL Chance being one of the very first I owned. Now, the iconic design House has spoilt us with an extraordinary new fragrance for women some 15 years later and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Gabrielle, named after the founder and namesake of the brand, is the new scent-sation and an ode to the CHANEL woman, embodying a radiant and sparkling femininity, perfect for the upcoming spring and summer seasons.

Since Chance in 2002, CHANEL has launched a number of flankers to its existing pillars, however, this is the first time we are seeing an entirely new pillar fragrance from the brand for women. And whilst Gabrielle has fondly been the muse of a majority of fragrances belonging to the house – Coco, Coco Mademoiselle, Coco Noir –  it is with Gabrielle that we fully embrace her courageous, rebellious and passionate spirit. She was revolutionary in the world of fashion and in the interest of women, pioneering the Little Black Dress and classic Chanel suit. It is fitting then, that fronting this campaign is none other than contemporaneous-emo poster child, Kristen Stewart.

She’s quirky and abstract, much-like the white floral present in the juice. Jasmine, tuberose from grasse, ylang ylang and orange blossom are at the heart whilst mandarine, grapefruit and black current open it up. Sandalwood and musk settle at the base giving Gabrielle just enough body to carry us through. And it’s just like CHANEL to take their time when compositing perfection. The bottle, took an outstanding five years to develop resulting in a jewel-like yet weightless four-corner faceted flacon. It does feel rather delicate to the touch making one quite anxious carrying it around. It helps, however, that it comes with a metallic Lamè bag suited to house it should you wish to take it along when you travel.

GABRIELLE CHANEL is available in a 50ml (R 1 745) and 100ml (R 2 465) flacon.

You can get yours at Woolworths or Red Square.
