New Year, New You. That’s the popular quote, right? It’s used time and time again by professional “resolutonists” – yes, I just made up that word – and it refers to people that declare amazing change in personal areas of their life every new year without adequate implementation. I am one of them. So this year, my resolution may have been to lead a healthier lifestyle and in so doing, I have begun to experiment slightly with different breakfast options.
Last week, I NutriBlended my way through Monday to Friday but today, I thought I would opt for a smoothie bowl. If you frequent Pinterest or follow any foodies on Instagram, you may have come across an image like this…
They are beautiful and pretty and just make you salivate uncontrollably. Well this morning, I thought I’d have a go at the smoothie bowl and this is what I came up with.
I’m not the biggest fan of yoghurt so I tried my best to keep this ingredient to a minimum. I followed it with a row of medium sliced bananas and a sprinkling of a chia and pumpkin seed mixture (my fave). I then added some muesli and finally, a healthy helping of strawberries and blueberries. The chia seed and pumpkin mixture is definitely needed as a good fibre supplement whilst the muesli (or as our American friends call it – granola) does its job by providing that extra bit of crunchiness. Bananas are another type of fruit I am not exactly the biggest fan of but today, they somehow happened to provide a natural sweetness where an alternative like honey or syrup may have been less forgiving nutrition-wise.
Have you made an attempt at creating your own smoothie bowl? Was it yummy?
