A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS

As the seasons change so does our reach for beauty products. Summer means lighter coverage foundations, fresh scents and subtle eye makeup and my most reached for items of late happen to tick all these boxes. While this is a summer edition it’s also a high-end addition. Let’s get started!

Giorgio Armani Sí Eau de Parfum – R1795 for 100ml
I have been itching to get my hands on this fragrance for the longest time.  Fortunately we had a ma-hussive beauty sale at the office so I managed to pick it up at a discounted price. Needless to say I am in love. Sí is an exceptionally feminine fragrance and you can detect a beautiful vanilla aroma upon spraying it. I got this in a 100ml because it will be my daytime scent. Although most women prefer it during autumn, I do feel it is light and fruity enough to wear during summer. If you’re looking for a new signature fragrance, this is it. On the more technical side, the top notes of Sí include Sicilian Bergamot, Mandarin oil and blackcurrant liqueur. The middle notes are made up of Rose May, Neroli and Egyptian Jasmine while the base is caressed with notes of Patchouli oil intertwined with Blond Woods, amber and musky undertones.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette
I have been loving this palette for spring and it continues to be a favourite of mine as we head into summer. In fact I created a spring makeup tutorial with this palette so make sure you watch it – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZ8p7uYWln0. Naked 3 boasts flattering rose-toned shimmery shades which I believe are super appropriate for the season as opposed to deep dusty mauves and marsala shades. While Urban Decay isn’t available in South Africa (yet) there are plenty of dupes such as the L.A Girl Neutral Palette.

Clarins HydraQuench Tinted Moisturiser SPF15 – R395
No summertime beauty bag is complete without a tinted moisturiser and this one by Clarins not only evens out skin tone but it also protects against harmful UVA + UVB rays and the presence of Katafray Bark Extract moisturises too. On no make-up days, this is a great one to keep in your bag.

Real Techniques Bold Metals Flat Kabuki 301 Brush – R399
Imagine my surprise when I discovered RT Bold Metals was available locally. Of course my spotting it turned into an impulse buy but it was well worth it. As you can see it is a beautiful brush. I use it to contour – the straight edges are super ideal for that – and I use the flat side to blend out harsh lines. I do plan on the getting the other Bold Metals brushes, however, it’s parting with R400 for each that’s making me hesitant. But hey! It’s the festive season so why not spoil yourself.

Hey Cynthia I love your all your blog posts so much. You really teach us hoe to take extra care of our skins apart from the make up we love wearing. Apparently there’s an Urban Decay Shop in Sandton
