What do you do to unwind and relax? My downtime from the hustle and bustle of city life ideally means taking a much needed break to a quaint space where I can enjoy some me-time for a couple of hours. The Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa is located just 5km out of Camps Bay yet its surroundings are vastly different from the lively strip. Enveloped in the most breathtaking greenery and set amongst a beautiful mountainous backdrop, it sits right on the edge of the coast facing the Atlantic. The reason for visiting one of the Mother’s City most unique hotels? To recuperate at their one-of-a-kind spa and experience a luxury facial and body detoxing wrap courtesy of Elemis.
#InMyNature, a new influencer campaign led by ELEMIS South Africa, will be following my journey as I discover more about this luxury skincare brand and how it can fit into my lifestyle, naturally. While Elemis is traditionally located within spas, they have recently branched out in-store where people like myself and you can take home some of our favourite products after having had experienced them in a spa. Follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook as I share how I incorporate my new products into my everyday routine, however, for now, let me take you briefly through the treatments I received at the Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa.
ELEMIS White Brightening Facial
When filling out the consultation form upon arrival, I highlighted pigmentation and dullness as some of my major skin concerns. The ELEMIS therapist on duty, Celeste, then recommended I have the White Brightening Facial, an ultimate performance treatment developed to enlighten, illuminate and even out my skin tone while targeting dark spots and discoloration. The treatment began with a thorough cleansing of the skin followed by a peel-off gel mask which we allowed to harden on my face for about ten minutes. A mask such as this is necessary as it uses enzymes which help to promote cell turnover immediately diminishing the superficial layer of scars, uneven skin and overall dullness. After peeling off the mask, Celeste then exfoliated the skin with a potent complex of high performing actives that for lack of a better term, lit my skin on fire. (LOL). This may have been a result of the very mild chemical peel I had just two weeks prior as I tend to have a rather high tolerance when it comes to using active ingredients. Nevertheless, a soothing toner dissipated any discomfort and Celeste continued with the treatment layering expert serums and finally a sun protectant to end the treatment. To supplement this treatment, at home I am using the ELEMIS Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Serum which contains four AHAs, Selastin and patented Tri-Enzyme technology which will help to further soothe the skin and also deal with the appearance of pores and wrinkles. As a night cream, I am using the ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Oxygenating Night Cream which is nutrient rich and leaves my skin feeling and looking plump, brighter and hydrated.
ELEMIS Thousand Flower Detox Wrap
Before going any further, yes – it feels as good as it sounds! This is a very new in-spa treatment for ELEMIS and it is a treatment that is enriched with Somerset soil packed with tree, flower and grass-rich nutrients. This detox wrap was actually first before experiencing my White Brightening Facial. Celeste began the body brushing starting at my feet all the way to my upper back and down my arms. She then proceeded to massage Omega-rich Green Tea Oil into my skin. I have to say I was worried I’d dose off and poor Celeste would have to deal with my snoring but fortunately that never happened. The massage was then followed by the Thousand Flower Wrap – a very nutrient rich earth wrap – as its purpose is to surrender the toxins. After a warm shower, a nourishing Green Tea balm rich in minerals, proteins and Omegas was used as the final touch. To supplement this unforgettable wrap, I am using the ELEMIS Sweet Orchid Body Cream which smells absolutely incredible and leaves my skin feeling hydrated, nourished and soothed from head to toe.
