While winter happens to be one of my favorite seasons, there’s something about summer that still calls to me. Whether its the mouth-watering gelato on its way to melting in your mouth to the array in choices of swank summer frocks, there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy in the sun-soaking solstice. I personally tend to give in to my addiction for barely-there sandals and some of the laciest contraptions. In collaboration with Superbalist, I will be bringing you my favourite looks of the season and this time around it’s the battle of the gladiator…
The Long and Short Of It
This winter, our Instagram feeds were inundated with knee-high racy lace-up booties. This trend has carried over to the summer sandal where the gladiator has become more and more risqué by way of less material and more skin. Skinny shoelace alone is used to hold the entire piece together from toe to calf to knee to sometimes mid-thigh. And while previously mocked as a Spartan-inspired doohickey, the gladiator still manages to hold a reputation for being a staple in any summer wardrobe.
My latest love from the Superbalist collection of summer sandals has to be Gaga by Footwork. It’s a knee-high gladiator sandal that screams boho-chic. I’m in fact obsessed with this pair so much so that I already had it in tan. Considering most of my get-ups feature a lot of black, I figured her darker, more brooding twin would have a perfect place in my wardrobe.
The second lace-up get-up I’m loving is a little shorter but equally boho-inspired. Also by Footwork, Eden is a much more simpler version gladiator sandal made from faux suede. Once again I opted for black as it will allow versatility any outfit I choose.
