Being an avid make-up lover, I have definitely tested my fair share of primers. Because my concerns aren’t necessarily large pores or fine lines and wrinkles, I have sometimes struggled with which sort of primer I would benefit the most from. However, I do have combination skin (i.e. dry cheeks and an oily t-zone) and while hydration/moisture is something I cannot compromise on (I use a rich daily moisturizer before make-up application) I still need some sort of oil controlling product along my t-zone.
It’s no surprise that there are a lot of primers on the market that claim to mattify and control shine. In my experience, about 5% of them actually do as they promise. However, I was recently sent a trio of Urban Decay prep and priming products to try and was blown away by one in particular – the Urban Decay De-Slick Complexion Primer.
While we have come to know and love the Urban Decay make-up prepping and setting sprays, the fun-loving beauty brand recently came out with a set of primers targeted to deal with a multitude of skin types and needs. With the De-Slick Complexion Primer – modeled after the setting spray of the same name – the magic is instantaneous.
One squeeze of this goop transforms my t-zone into a slick-free zone. Described as “lightweight and oil absorbing” helping “makeup go on better and last all day”, the Urban Decay De-Slick Complexion Primer erases any qualms you may have about becoming shinier as the day wears on. I do not use this as an all over primer, instead focusing it on my nose, forehead and chin. The trick is to pat, not rub and word is you can even apply this on top of makeup for midday touch ups. Side note: I have never had to do the latter. Also, it dispenses via a pump making it super easy and convenient to use. One pump (sometimes less) is literally all I need for optimal foundation application.
The Urban Decay De-Slick Complexion Primer has an RRSP of R450 and is available at selected Foschini, Stuttafords and foschiniforbeauty.co.za.
