What are the perks of having good friends? They bring you the best of the best when they travel. S/O to my darling Moyin Oloruntoba who when visiting London recently, returned with an order I placed online. SPACE NK is a UK based boutique selling a refined selection of skincare and cosmetics and it’s where I purchased my goodies from. What made my cart? The NARS dream team – All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation, two NARS Radiant Creamy Concealers – as well as the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. But this post is all about the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless so let’s get into it.
NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation
You guys! The internet was on to something; the beauty guru’s didn’t lie! This foundation has been hyped up SO MUCH since it launched in 2015 and has become a certified holy grail for most. I myself have had my eye on it since, well… since my whole obsession with makeup began and I am so happy I took the plunge and finally purchased.
What NARS says about this foundation:
“Full, natural-looking coverage with unexpectedly weightless, 16-hour wear. Highly pigmented and perfectly balanced, this breakthrough formula builds and blends effortlessly with just one drop.”
What I say about this foundation:
Simply put, this is a description I cannot fault.
Definitely a full-coverage foundation and nothing but a teeny tiny amount is all you need to apply. However, it is important to remember that full coverage is open to interpretation and that my full coverage may be different to yours. I do, however, believe that the majority will be more than satisfied with just one layer.
Because I ordered NARS All Day Luminous Weightless online, I lucked out when it came to finding the perfect match. “Macao” is described as a medium-dark shade with yellow undertones. The ability to blend is so effortless and the result is flawless. It is indeed weightless and even evens out uneven skin tone. With one layer alone, my pigmentation and chicken pox scarring were covered completely. While dark spots and pigmentation require orange pigments to counteract the discolouration, the yellow undertones in this foundation do a good job. The foundation does, however, contain green pigments to counteract redness and gold pigments to give luminosity. I didn’t quite experience the luminosity as I do have dry/combination skin and I’m pretty sure the dry bits swallowed all the gold pigments up.
When I opened the box and unscrewed the top, I expected to find a pump applicator – I blame YouTube for that. Instead, the frosted glass bottle was sealed simply with a screw top and attached to it, a “tube” with which to transfer product to your face. I thought I would rush to the MAC flagship store and get a pump but stopped when I realized how convenient the simple tube-like applicator was.
Like I said, I am absolutely obsessed with this foundation. I’ve already ordered another bottle as I don’t see myself shifting from it any time soon as my everyday makeup base.
Below is a snap of me at breakfast wearing NARS All Day Luminous Weightless. As you can see the coverage is incredible (P.S. I have concealed, contoured and set everything with a powder) and I only used a single layer.
Have you tried NARS All Day Luminous Weightless? If not, do you plan to?
