Inspired by one of the most favourite things I love to do when I have some time off – a road trip – the CHANEL Travel Diary Autumn-Winter 2017 Collection is just that. Created by Chanel’s Global Creative Makeup & Colour Designer, Lucia Pica, #traveldiary is a story about her journey as she road-tripped through California. The collection is robust with striking colours and textures paying homage to special bits during her trip that captured her most and I’m going to share some of the standout pieces with you…
The first item that stands out in this collection is the Chanel Les 4 Ombres Multi Effect Quadra Eyeshadow palette in “Road Movie” (R920). As I mention in my most recent get-ready-with-me clip, I am having a moment for deep, teal greens. Road Movie also boasts earthy hues as well as options for a little bit of shimmer and major intensity. The formula of the quadra eyeshadow is incredibly rich in pigment and super easy to blend. I like to set up my eye with orangey, warm tones and then intensify the crease with the deepest teal green and sweep the shimmery turquoise green across the lid.
The Chanel Palette Essential (R1080) is in actual fact the hero of this collection and is a completely new launch for Chanel. It’s the ultimate travel necessity complete with highlighter, concealer and colour. The concealer is what you’ll use to cover up imperfections and the highlight shade is the ultimate boost of freshness to the skin. The cream blush works as the perfect pop of colour to your cheeks and I like to use it to add warmth to my contour as well. Pictured below is the shade 160 Beige Medium but I wish I had received 170 Beige Intense for a more accurate colour match. If you’re interested in picking up Beige Intense, know that the concealer is very creamy – you’ll want to set it with a touch of powder – but it still manages to dry to a semi-matte finish. You’ll also love the Chanel Retractable Dual-Tip Concealer Brush that comes with this collection. It’s a first for me using Chanel tools and I have to say, I’m hooked. Each brush is the perfect size so super ideal to travel with should you require it.
Also included in the Travel Diary Collection are some pout perfecting lipsticks. Pictured below are Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in “First Light” (R610) and Chanel Rouge Coco in “Daylight” (R610). I would very much deem these spring/summer shades but I do find them very suited to this collection. First Light is a vivid matte orange which is paired with an intense teal smokey eye in the ad campaign featuring Kristen Stewart, while Daylight is a creamy, moisturizing nude which I like to use by applying a little bit of gloss over top.
The Chanel Travel Diary Collection also includes two Le Vernis nail lacquers, New Dawn (R450) and the Limited Edition Horizon Line (R450) as well as the Chanel Signature de Chanel Eyeliner Pen in Noir (R720).
