The “bliss point” is a term used in the food industry and it refers to the perfect balance between salt and sweet. It’s the peak culmination of ingredients working together with the sole purpose of leaving you effectively wanting more, and more, and more with you never realizing you’re full until it’s too late. It’s also what I’ve come to realize is the impressive balancing act that is Modern Muse.
First released in 2013, Estèe Lauder Modern Muse was the first major fragrance launch for the beauty powerhouse in ten years. Since perfumer, Harry Fremont, created this one-of-a-kind complex and confident scent, Estèe Lauder have thereafter released four more flankers, each seeking to dazzle the Modern Muse woman at every stage of her life.
I may be most excited, however, for Modern Muse Nuit – an intoxicating and complex composition of mystery, glamour and sensuality. Modern Muse Nuit is definitely a deeper, darker expression of the original with hypnotic florals mandarin, blackcurrent bud and cassis opening it up. A sandalwood accord is what makes this fragrance sensual mixed with the Clearwood™ molecule capturing the warmth of patchouli, tonka bean and vanilla from Madagascar as well as amber and musks. It even won the “Best Hero”and “Best Oriental Fragrance” award by the 2017 Stylist Awards.
But Chic, Le Rouge and Le Rouge Gloss each are unique in their own composition yet still hold a familiarity in representing the dynamic complexities of a modern woman. Estèe Lauder Modern Muse Le Rouge speaks to the provocative and glamorous side of a woman. She’s passionate, confident and unapologetic in her sexiness. This is a fragrance I love to wear during the month of July – my birthday month, the month of Leo’s.
Estèe Lauder Modern Muse Chic is the original with a woody, musk twist. It’s quite heavy on the nose with cashmere wood and agarwood (oud) settling in at the base. I prefer it during autumn when a much-deserved date night is on the agenda.
